Solar Homeowner Susan Hardy |
5 kW installed by ReKnew Energy in summer 2012
I had thought about going solar for several years, but the cost seemed prohibitive, so first I launched some weatherize projects. Finally, during the first Solarize Norwich push, the price and incentives lured me in. I'm very glad I did it. What a treat when my meter first ran backwards! Mine is a roof-top installation so it is essentially out of sight, but not out of mind. I find I am very conscious of the electricity I'm using and keep a close watch on both production and usage (the accompanying software is a treat). I'm not quite getting the full amount predicted by the pre-installation calculations, but even with our gloomy winter months of late and the early morning river fog that shrouds my panels in the fall, I'm storing up enough credit over the summer so that there are just three or four winter months when I owe the power company anything. And even those bills are below any previous usage -- just $4 and change on my last bill. |
